ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: DEBBI WALLACE
POCAHONTAS, AR May 5—Debbi Wallace of Hoxie is our newest Alumni Spotlight. She grew up in Maynard and graduated from Maynard High School. She earned an Associate in General Studies from Arkansas State University and an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care from BRTC.
After working locally for several years, Debbi decided to become a travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and her travel position has taken her many places over the past two years. She has taken contracts in Manhattan, New York; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Coeur d‘Alene, Idaho; and Kelispell, Montana. Her plan is to take a contract in Alaska in the near future.
Debbi’s advice to college students is “Stick with it! It’s definitely a challenge to further your education, but worth it. Don’t quit, and seek out assistance early if you need it. Your advisor is there for you as a wonderful resource. Find out their office hours. Effort and respect will take you far. And if you’re unsure or unhappy, it’s perfectly okay to change your major.” She adds, “I’m very grateful for the opportunities to grow and travel I’ve gained thanks to BRTC. I’ve gotten to see and do so many more things. My education is still serving me well and is also still continuing.”
Debbi and her husband Terry have two sons, Wayne and Damon; three daughters, Christina, Melody, and Krystin; and seven grandchildren Noah, Brady, Kennedy, Delaney, Makayla, Abby, and Rilan.
