BRTC’S CAREER AND TECHNICAL CENTER WELCOMES SEVERAL SPECIAL GUESTS
POCAHONTAS, AR April 19— During February and March, high school juniors and seniors enrolled in BRTC’s Career and Technical Center (CTC) heard from several guest speakers.
On February 11, Dr. Teri Cox of Cox Consulting and Be Pro Be Proud came to campus to help students with the resumes they would need for the 2022 Be Pro Be Proud Draft Day event. She returned to campus in March to work with them on interview skills.
Bob Zeek of NASA HUNCH was on the Paragould campus on February 23 to discuss BRTC’s NASA HUNCH partnership. Zeek explained that through the partnership, students will have the opportunity to create parts for the International Space Station.
On February 18, Chuck Long of the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission spoke with the students about hunting safety as well as scholarship and job opportunities with AR Game & Fish Commission.
Chris Riggins, UCA recruiter, visited with the CTC students about the 2+2 offerings between UCA and BRTC on March 4, and Mike Emmons of Survival Flight spoke about how he became a paramedic/EMT through BRTC’s program.
On March 11, National Guard recruiters, Robert Rankin and Tyler Pickney, came to campus to share some of their personal experiences and discuss the importance of teamwork.
Darenda Kersey, Director of Career, Technical, and Concurrent Education, expressed how grateful she is to the volunteers who took time out of their day to speak to the CTC students by stating, “I truly appreciate the speakers’ willingness to come to campus and share valuable information with BRTC students. These volunteers are making an impact in the lives of students.”
